Argento Finishes One Mother Of A Trilogy

Dario Argento’s third and final picture in his Mother Trilogy, MOTHER OF TEARS, is set to reach a larger US audience with a June 6 DVD release. The Witches trilogy began with SUSPIRIA in 1977 and was followed by INFERNO IN 1980. After a 27-yearlong wait, Argento brings us the final chapter. This time an art student, Sarah Mandy, played by Argento's own beautiful daughter Asia, unwittingly releases the demonic power of the most powerful witch, the Mother Of Tears. Before you know it, violence, mass suicides and chaos erupts all over Rome, not to mention, psychopathic witches. Sarah must then use her untapped psychic powers to stop the “Mother Of Tears” reign of evil before it’s too late.
The film's screenplay had many drafts over the years and this final version is written by Argento himself with Jase Anderson and Adam Gierasch the writers of Tobe Hopper’s underrated TOOLBOX MURDERS. I doubt there are many horror fans who haven't seen SUSPIRIA but for those who have not I highly recommend getting all three DVD's this June and enjoying a night of true Italian horror.
